Letters and Video Testimonials

We can tell you how great the "Getting Started The Right Way!" course is and what our clients have to say until we're blue in the face, and you'll still be a bit skeptical. So now we ask that you read what our students and clients have to say!

Mr. Pistilli, Just wanted to let you know what a great job you have done with the video course. To start with, the basic forging exercises (of which I had no previous experience with) are outstanding. After some practice, I am now able to straighten out a shoe in only one heat, and in 2 heats, make a diamond or circle. The instructions in the guidebook on measuring and laying out nail holes are very easy to follow. The exercises on trimming skills, along with the source for cadaver feet has greatly improved my skills and knowledge base; by working on the feet I have been able to improve/fine tune many skills, and dissecting the feet gives a much greater understanding of anatomy and the structures. The live footage of trimming, shoeing, hot-fitting, and nailing help to show the proper way of doing the job. If you are able to teach this much on a video, my only hope is that I will one day be able to come to your school for some hands on study/shoeing with you. Again, great job with the video, and thank you for making it. Take care and God bless. Tom Neill, Student #1003, Absecon, New Jersey

Sonny, "Getting Started The Right Way" is what we all want to do. I suggest that any beginning farrier include this material in his learning program and keep it as a reference. The video is clear with easy to understand demonstrations and dialogue to explain important procedures. The program moves with a natural progression. It includes many time tested theories and displays some of the most popular equipment. Sonny has outlined some useful exercises to help a new farrier become more comfortable under the horse and with the horseshoeing routine. His exercises for forge work are particularly worthwhile. Tommy Thompson, Belvidere, New Jersey

"Sonny has been shoeing my Western horse for almost a year now. The horse had a history of lameness in his early years, due to a somewhat club hoof, very tiny front feet, with thick extended bars. The horse lived in a field until he was three, and could not begin under-saddle work until his fourth year. He is built down-hill with very straight legs behind (halter bred). He's had trouble getting his front-end, from the shoulders, lifted up and out, and a tendency to forge behind. Sonny has shod him with a trim and shoes that have assisted him driving his back end under himself, with the traction he needs to lift and swing his shoulders out in front. Sonny has had high-level Western performance horses in the past, which he competed himself, and has first-hand knowledge about how shoeing can help a horse do its job. He is an excellent listener, and has taken the time to see my horse go in-hand and under-saddle. He has even given me advice on proper bit selection that has made a big difference in the horse's ability to connect behind! He is open to trying new ideas, even from an amateur such as myself. From time to time, my horse has lost a shoe or I've needed to ask a question, and he has been easily reachable by phone, and arrives to fix the problems fast." Nancy Lennon

"Sonny, just wanted to take a moment and tell you that attending your farrier school was one of the best decisions that I've made in my working career. You took me from a career field that I actually despised and trained me to start a new career that I love! I've started my own business and am doing just fine. You are a God send and I'm very grateful! You once told me "I've never felt like I worked a day in my life when shoeing horses", now I know what you meant. Thanks again." Shawn T. N.E. Pennsylvania
